Independent Report – Beijing, Sept 6:
In a major development at the Pakistan–China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing, an MoU was signed for the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Gilgit-Baltistan under CPEC.

The project, to be developed by China’s Iron Brothers International, is expected to generate nearly 10,000 jobs and pave the way for new industries in the region. Agreements were also reached on modern drip irrigation for agriculture, while consultations with leading energy firms signaled large-scale power projects in the pipeline. Talks on affordable housing schemes are also underway.

Observers say the initiative marks a new phase of economic integration for Gilgit-Baltistan, promising transformative changes in agriculture, energy, industry, and employment. The agreement was finalized with the support of federal and provincial investment bodies as well as the Embassy of Pakistan in China.
