Peshawar/Multan, September 6,: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on the occasion of Pakistan’s Defence Day, paid tribute to the martyrs and heroes of the 1965 war. He described September 6 as a historic day of courage, unity, and unwavering commitment to the nation.

 

Governor Kundi highlighted the sacrifices made by the armed forces in defending the motherland, emphasizing that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have always stood firmly alongside Pakistan’s military. He praised the security institutions for their exceptional bravery and commitment, stating that the victories achieved after September 6, 1965, stand as a testament to the nation’s unity and the armed forces’ capabilities. He further stressed that safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and defense remains a shared responsibility of all citizens.

 

In addition to Defence Day observances, Governor Kundi joined Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in Multan to participate in the 100th anniversary celebrations of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The procession, organized by Anjuman Islamiya, commenced from Dawlat Gate and concluded at Hussain Agahi Chowk. During the event, both the Governor and the Senate Chairman were honored with ceremonial turbans.

 

Addressing the participants, Governor Kundi highlighted that the blessed birth of the Prophet (PBUH) serves as a guiding lesson in national unity and compassion. He urged citizens to instill the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) in their personal and social lives and emphasized the importance of educating younger generations about his exemplary life. The Governor also paid homage to those who have sacrificed their lives in defense of the country, underscoring that their contributions will never be forgotten.
