Islamabad, 1 Sep 2025 : Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq addressed the National Assembly today, marking the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awwal and highlighting the unprecedented flood devastation across Pakistan. The catastrophic inundation, triggered by torrential downpours, cloudbursts, and India”s release of water into eastern rivers, has caused widespread destruction in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Karachi.
The “super flood” is now advancing towards Sindh, leaving a trail of devastation, including substantial loss of life and damage to property and critical infrastructure. Sadiq acknowledged the nation”s distress during this challenging period, emphasizing the need for unity and the guidance of the Holy Prophet”s ﷺ teachings.
The Speaker noted the historic significance of Rabi-ul-Awwal, marking the 1500th birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. While the National Assembly Secretariat had planned extensive celebrations, including exhibitions and gatherings, the focus has shifted to addressing the national crisis.
A subdued program to commemorate Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ will be held at Parliament House. Sadiq urged members to prioritize humanitarian efforts during Rabi-ul-Awwal, emphasizing national unity over political discord. He called for observing the 1500th anniversary with humility, reflecting the Prophet”s ﷺ noble traditions
