Karachi, July 31 (SPECIAL REPORT): Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah declared Sindh at the forefront in enforcing laws against underage and forced marriages. He credited Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership for this success, stating that laws are being strictly enforced in Sindh compared to other regions. Shah was speaking as the chief guest at a provincial awareness program on the issue held at the Arts Council Karachi. The event was organized by SPO and civil society groups from Khairpur and Jacobabad. Attendees included Jamil Asghar Bhatti, Manager Projects and Grants (SPO), Muniza Ali, Country Manager (Save the Children), and Saaima Agha, Parliamentary Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs.
Minister Shah inspected and appreciated the stalls showcasing local handicrafts and cultural items. He lauded the program’s awareness campaign and assured the civil society of the Sindh government’s full support. He expressed his intention to extend the program to Sukkur following its success in Khairpur and Jacobabad. Shah highlighted Sindh’s existing legislation and expressed hope that the new PPP government in Balochistan would also support similar laws. He acknowledged the existence of similar laws in other provinces but emphasized the need for education and awareness.
Shah praised the platform’s role in raising public awareness. He expressed hope that under Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s future premiership, this law will be enforced nationwide. He concluded his address by encouraging active participation in the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. The event concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to Shah.
