Lahore (PR): The Executive Development Institute (EDI) of the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) organized the 7th Public Financial Management (PFM-VII) Training Workshop from September 11–12, 2025.
The two-day program focused on strategic foundations of public financial management, budget credibility, accounting, auditing, fiscal federalism, intergovernmental finance, tax compliance, transparency, and the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in financial governance.
A total of 41 participants from across Pakistan attended, including senior civil servants from federal and provincial governments as well as executives from leading public and private sector institutions such as the Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat, State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Air Force, Civil Aviation Authority, PTA, PEMRA, PPRA, HEC, IBCC, NESCOM, OGDCL, NUTECH, LCWU, and others.
Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, inaugurated the workshop highlighting its significance in strengthening fiscal governance and effective resource utilization. Director EDI Kamran Ahmed briefed the participants about EDI’s performance, objectives, and inclusive planning approach.
Distinguished speakers included Dr. Ishrat Husain (Former Adviser to PM & Governor SBP), Mr. Sibtain Fazal Halim (Former MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority), Dr. Arshad Hassan (Associate Professor/CFO Lahore School of Economics), Mr. Tariq Bajwa (Former SAPM for Finance & Governor SBP), Dr. Waqar Masood Khan (Former Federal Finance Secretary), Ms. Numa Gul Rukh Fareed (Accountant General Punjab), Mr. Faisal Rasheed (Senior Consultant, Oxford Policy Management), and Dr. Rizwan Basharat (Collector Customs).
Participants actively engaged in Q&A sessions and appreciated EDI-NSPP’s efforts in designing a reform-oriented training program. The workshop concluded with certificate distribution by Rector NSPP, Dr. Jamil Afaqi, who lauded the initiative as a milestone for strengthening Pakistan’s financial governance framework.
