A landmark Grand Jirga was convened in Sibi, bringing together top provincial leadership, security officials, and tribal elders to deliberate on peace, development, and the socio-economic future of Balochistan.
The gathering was attended by Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Corps Commander 12 Corps Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan, IG FC Balochistan (North), IG Police Balochistan, MNA Mian Khan Bugti, provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Balochistan, and tribal elders from Sibi Division.
The jirga aimed to formulate a joint strategy for addressing provincial challenges, ensuring stability, accelerating development projects, and promoting public welfare. Tribal elders presented local issues and suggestions, which were assured priority resolution by the government and security institutions.
Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail emphasized that Balochistan’s progress and prosperity are only possible through the collective efforts of all stakeholders. He urged unity among the government, security forces, and tribal leadership to integrate the province into the national mainstream of development.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti acknowledged the significance of tribal traditions and the jirga system, affirming that the provincial government, with the people’s support, is determined to maintain peace and drive forward the development agenda.
Corps Commander 12 Corps, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan, delivered a comprehensive address, underscoring the dual role of security forces: ensuring peace and stability while simultaneously creating positive opportunities for the youth. He stressed that the young generation is the real architect of Balochistan’s future, and channeling their energy towards education, employment, and constructive activities is essential for sustainable peace and growth.
During the event, the expansion and structural improvement project of the Quetta-Dhadar (N-65) Highway was also inaugurated. Officials noted that the project would not only improve traffic flow but also boost trade, connectivity, and socio-economic development in the region.
The jirga concluded with a strong consensus that lasting prosperity in Balochistan hinges on close cooperation between the government, security institutions, and tribal elders. Tribal leaders reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes peacefully and promoting social harmony and brotherhood across the province.
