Karachi, September 8, 2025 The first high-level meeting of the Katcha areas monitoring committee, chaired by Minister of Interior and Law Zia-ul-Haq Lanjhar, emphasized the urgent need for modern resources to combat dacoits. The meeting reviewed ongoing anti-dacoit operations and deliberated on government strategies for law enforcement.
A detailed briefing by Sindh AIG Operations, Zubair Nazir Shaikh, highlighted the need for state-of-the-art machinery, modern weapons, and armored vehicles to bolster police efforts against criminal elements. Discussions emphasized the importance of upgrading facilities at checkpoints in Katcha areas to ensure effective enforcement.
Furthermore, the briefing stressed the significance of modern training for police personnel and the prompt provision of necessary resources. Minister Lanjhar insisted on carefully examining the recommendations for resource allocation, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
The Sindh government expressed a strong commitment to eliminating dacoits, with Minister Lanjhar confirming that offers for the peaceful surrender of criminals would be made within the legal framework. He commended the joint efforts of police and security agencies, acknowledging the positive outcomes of operations during the past seven months.
The meeting also focused on infrastructure development, noting that the construction of the Dadu-Moro and Larkana-Khairpur bridges had contributed to a reduction in crime. Minister Lanjhar urged expediting the completion of the Ghotki-Kashmore bridge, anticipating a further decrease in criminal activity.
Educational and healthcare infrastructure were also discussed, with inquiries made to the secretaries of schools and the health department regarding existing facilities. Minister Lanjhar emphasized the importance of maintaining educational and health services during security operations, through the establishment of temporary camps.
The minister stressed the need to decisively complete the anti-dacoit operation, reminding all stakeholders of their shared responsibility to protect the lives and property of citizens. The meeting was attended by senior officials from various departments and law enforcement agencies, who were urged to demonstrate commitment and support to ensure the operation’s success.
