Landi Kotal, September 7, 2025 – Provincial and federal authorities have failed to provide financial assistance to families affected by recent floods and heavy rains in District Khyber, according to Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Landi Kotal, Murad Hussain Afridi.

Speaking at a press conference at the District Press Club Khyber, Afridi said that the storm on August 30 severely damaged hundreds of homes and household belongings, forcing families to live under open skies. While there were no casualties, poor families are facing significant financial losses.

He criticized government authorities and PDMA for merely collecting applications without taking tangible steps or providing financial support to victims, questioning their performance. Afridi urged immediate field visits by district administration and PDMA and demanded cash assistance for affected households, including support for the family of a girl who drowned near Landi Kotal station.

Afridi warned that if relief is not provided promptly, Jamaat-e-Islami, alongside flood victims, will organize protest sit-ins until all affected families receive financial aid.
