Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, during his visit to Haldi, met with local elders and flood-affected residents, stating that all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan have been severely impacted by the recent floods. He emphasized that the government’s top priority is to provide immediate relief and restore basic services on an emergency basis.
The Chief Minister assured that while immediate assistance is being provided, steps are also underway for the long-term rehabilitation of infrastructure. He highlighted that the construction of a protective dam in Haldi, along with other essential preventive measures, will be completed as a priority to safeguard the community from future natural disasters.
Haji Gulbar Khan stressed that the government will not rest until all flood-affected residents are fully rehabilitated and pledged that every possible assistance will be provided. He instructed relevant departments to conduct urgent assessments of families’ needs and expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts to ensure practical, on-ground support reaches the affected population.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the government is following a phased strategy to provide both immediate relief and sustainable recovery, ensuring that communities in Haldi and across Gilgit-Baltistan are protected from future disasters
