Sahiwal, 7 Sep.: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, visited flood relief camps in District Sahiwal to assess ongoing relief efforts. During his visit, he supervised the distribution of relief packages to 1,100 affected families through the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) in collaboration with the Farmers Development Organization (FDO). A total of 500 packages were distributed in Dad Baloch, while 300 each were provided in Chak Akbar Shah and Oranga Abad. Each package contained essential food and household items worth PKR 25,000.
The Federal Minister interacted with the flood victims at all three camps and assured them that every possible measure would be taken to provide continuous support until their complete rehabilitation. He confirmed that medical treatment facilities are also being provided to the affected families.
Syed Imran Ahmed Shah reaffirmed that the Government of Pakistan would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected communities. He emphasized that, following special instructions from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, relief packages are being distributed across the province to support flood victims during this critical period.
Highlighting the broader challenges, the Federal Minister noted that Pakistan remains one of the most climate-vulnerable regions in the world. He stressed that the federal government is implementing long-term measures to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. He also assured that all government institutions are committed to providing care, dignity, and rehabilitation for the affected families.
