Quetta, Sep. 7, – Provincial Advisor for Women Development, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, emphasized that education, particularly women’s education, is the key to social progress and national stability. Speaking on International Literacy Day, she called illiteracy the greatest obstacle to national development.
Dr. Buledi highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the provincial government has launched comprehensive measures to improve literacy rates and expand educational opportunities for women. Last year, nearly 8,000 teachers were recruited, and 3,200 previously closed schools were reopened. In the current academic year, 1,200 new community schools, including special schools for girls, are being established across the province.
She also pointed out that Balochistan’s youth now have access to over 200 international universities, while scholarships under the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program ensure children can pursue education from primary levels up to Ph.D. without financial barriers.
To improve safe access for female students, Dr. Buledi announced that the Pink Bus and Pink Scooties Program will soon be launched, facilitating easier and safer commutes to educational institutions.
“An educated mother is the guarantee of an educated generation, forming the foundation of a brighter and more developed Balochistan,” Dr. Buledi said. She urged parents, teachers, civil society, and social organizations to prioritize girls’ education and take full advantage of the provincial government’s ongoing initiatives.
