Mirpur Mathelo, September 6, 2025: Over 118,000 residents across 10 union councils in Ghotki are at risk of flooding, officials said. So far, around 5,000 people from low-lying Kachha areas have been relocated to safer places.

 

Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi visited the district control room to review preparedness. Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmed Kanrani confirmed that district authorities are fully prepared, and local staff from education and council departments have been deployed to assist flood victims.

 

Meanwhile, Sindh Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar inspected Qadirpur Shank Dam, warning that 5–7 lakh cusecs of water could reach Guddu Barrage by September 9. Protective embankments are being reinforced, and mobile hospitals, medical, and veterinary camps have been set up to provide immediate relief.

 

The minister assured the public that all necessary measures are in place for flood control, adding that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will visit Sindh to support relief and rehabilitation efforts. Authorities remain on full alert as heavy rainfall is forecasted until September 10.
