Islamabad, 1 Sep 2025 Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif joined other global leaders at a welcome banquet in Tianjin, China, for the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Council Meeting. The Pakistani leader’s presence comes as international focus intensifies on the summit.
Sharif was greeted by Chinese President Xi Jinping upon his arrival.
The Pakistani premier engaged in informal discussions with several heads of state, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting carries significance given the ongoing geopolitical climate.
Other leaders Sharif conferred with include Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the heads of state of Malaysia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Maldives. He also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
