Tianjin, China, 1 Sep 2025  : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed their nations’ commitment to strong bilateral ties during a meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Council of Heads of Member States (CHM), included senior Pakistani officials such as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and other federal ministers.

Sharif emphasized Pakistan”s dedication to its relationship with Iran, highlighting their shared history, culture, and faith. The two leaders discussed existing cooperation across various sectors and expressed contentment with the current progress in their nations” relations.

Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan”s continued backing and reiterated Iran”s resolve to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Sharif referenced the Iranian President”s August 2025 visit to Pakistan, noting its positive impact on strengthening the countries” bond and the warm reception the Iranian leader received.

The Prime Minister stressed the need for further political and economic growth between the two countries. He reiterated Pakistan”s support for the Iranian government and people, and advocated for regional peace through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Iranian President conveyed condolences for the lives lost and damage caused by recent floods in Pakistan, expressing Iran”s solidarity during this challenging period.
