KARACHI, 1 Sep 2025 : The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Greek-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) have formalized a partnership aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, pledging to facilitate business matchmaking, exchange market intelligence, and support joint ventures.
KCCI Senior Vice President Zia ul Arfeen and GPCCI Founder President Rubina Markoupolou signed the agreement at the KCCI. The ceremony was witnessed by other officials from both chambers.
Arfeen highlighted the significance of the pact, emphasizing that it unites two complementary economies. He noted KCCI”s substantial representation of Pakistan”s revenue generation and Greece”s expertise in sectors such as maritime infrastructure and renewable energy. He assured that the chambers would share vital business data and encourage joint ventures. The partnership will also focus on organizing mutual participation in trade exhibitions and conferences.
Markoupolou echoed the sentiment, stating that the MoU would unlock significant prospects for Pakistani exporters, providing access to European markets. She foresees joint ventures and collaborations extending to third-country markets. Greek exhibitions will offer platforms for Pakistani products, while Greek businesses can similarly participate in Karachi expos. The partnership also eyes Greece”s maritime prowess to enhance Pakistani trade routes to Europe. Collaboration in renewable energy and sustainable technologies is another key focus area.
Junaid Esmail Makda, Chairman of the KCCI”s Special Committee for MoU Implementation, acknowledged Pakistan”s current economic hurdles, including inflation and energy limitations. However, he viewed the agreement as a sign of progress and optimism, emphasizing its potential to create new avenues for members. The MoU also includes provisions for trade missions and efforts to tackle trade barriers. Both organizations have pledged to resolve any arising discrepancies amicably.
