Karachi, July 31, 2025 (SPECIAL REPORT): A suspect was killed by police firing near a canal behind Paposh police station while allegedly attempting to escape from police custody. Police officials identified the deceased as 28-year-old Abbas, son of Abdul Majeed. Abbas was arrested yesterday from the jurisdiction of Paposh police station on charges of possessing crystal meth. He had cases registered against him for robbery, illegal possession of weapons, and other serious crimes.
Today, during reporting under the supervision of the investigating officer, Abbas allegedly escaped. Paposh Nagar police say that during the chase, near the canal behind the police station, Abbas tried to snatch a policeman’s weapon. The officer fired in self-defense, resulting in Abbas’s death on the spot.
After an investigation into the incident, the involved officer and the investigating officer have been taken into custody. A case of negligence and manslaughter has been registered against them.
